  6. TreeSize Professional is a powerful and flexible harddisk space manager for
  7. Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP. Find out which folders are the largest on your drives
  8. and recover megabytes on them. TreeSize Professional shows you the size,
  9. allocated and wasted space, the number of files, 3D bar and pie charts, the
  10. last access date, the file owner, the NTFS compression rate and much more
  11. information for several folders or drives you choose. It also lets you search
  12. for old, big and temporary files. The application has an intuitive Explorer-
  13. like user interface and it is fast and multithreaded. You can print detailed
  14. reports or export the collected Data to Excel and to an HTML, XML or ASCII
  15. file. TreeSize Pro can be started from the context menu of every folder or
  16. drive.

  19. INSTALLATION
  20. ~~~~~~~~~~~~
  21. Click on Tsizepro.exe and follow the instructions. It is possible to uninstall
  22. TreeSize Professional via Control Panel/Software. You can install and
  23. uninstall different major versions of TreeSize Professional independently from
  24. each other.
  25. By installing TreeSize Professional you accept the license agreement outlined
  26. in License.txt.

  31. TreeSize Professional is Shareware, that means you can try it and distribute
  32. the complete archive. If you decide to use it, you must register. Look in the

  52. Version 3.3: Released on 16 Jun 2005
  53. * Introduced a mixed mode for units, in which an appropriate unit (KB/MB/GB) is
  54.   used dependant on the displayed size.
  55. * TreeSize Pro now listens to Windows file change notifications in order to
  56.   update changed directories automatically. Since V3.0 TreeSize Pro already
  57.   updated the size information of a directory (non recursively), if its
  58.   content was displayed in the Details view. All automatic updates can be
  59.   turned on or off using a new button in the toolbar.
  60. * A new column has been added that can show the file version that is
  61.   included in most EXE, DLL, OCX etc. files. Additionally a column has been
  62.   added that shows the title (volume label and drive letter) of a scan. This
  63.   can be useful for archiving purposes.
  64. * The context menu of the Details item now contains a submenu with all
  65.   available information about this item, including the ones of non visible
  66.   columns. This submenu can also be used to activate or deactivate columns.
  67. * The main menu bar now has a "Branch" menu that contains some actions that

  117. * TreeSize Pro now ships with a shell extensions that adds an additional
  118.   column to the Windows Explorer that is showing the size not only for files
  119.   but also for folders. The new column can be activated in the Windows
  120.   Explorer under View / Select Columns.
  121. * Similar to the "Limit to user" feature, it is now possible to limit the shown
  122.   size values to a certain extension using the context menu of the extension
  123.   list.
  124. * The file search now has a second Options sheet that lets you configure the
  125.   number of decimals and the unit (KB, MB, GB, Mixed) that is used to display
  126.   size values.
  127. * If a file matches more than one search type of the File Search, the file
  128.   is now listed in all result lists instead of only in the first one.

  178. * Improvements on the user interface, better XP look & feel, new icons
  179. * Charts can now be saved in PNG format as well.
  180. * You can now activate and deactivate columns in the Details list by
  181.   right clicking on the column headers (similar to Windows Explorer)

  228.   Select a CSV-file, which is compatible with MS Excel.

  230. Version 3.01: Released on 10 Dec 2003
  231. * The export to a text file produced empty results, if the option "Include
  232.   Header" was not checked.
  233. * An error was fixed in the File Search module when clicking on the column

  286. * A saved XML file can be used to compare it against the current state of
  287.   the file system branch. The difference between the two scans will be 
  288.   displayed and makes it easy to see which folders have grown.

  336.   account that no longer exists on the system.

  349.   case TreeSize Pro now uses the DOS name of that folders and continues

  351. * In rare cases previous versions of TreeSize Pro added backslashes to a given
  352.   path in an infinite loop which resulted in paths like C:\\\\\\\wudnld20.tmp.

  354. * When running scheduled scans with the /NOGUI command line option, sometimes a
  355.   wrong window position outside the desktop whas been saved. This has been fixed.

  369. * Great improvement: TreeSize Pro is now able to scan folders under Windows
  370.   NT4/2000 to which the current user doesn't have access to. You just have to be
  371.   logged in as Administrator or as normal user which has the right to perform
  372.   backups. In previous version of TreeSize Pro you just got an "Access Denied"
  373.   error message.
  374. * New Option in the Options dialog which lets you choose if TreeSize Pro should
  375.   follow mount points and symbolic links (new features of Windows 2000)
  376. * TreeSize Pro now takes the file based compression of NTFS into account, when
  377.   calculating the allocated space.
  378. * Compressed files and folders may now be shown in a blue color. If only some
  379.   files in a folder are compressed, it will be shown in dark blue.

  412. Version 2.31 : Released on 22 Mar 2000
  413. * Under Windows 2000 TreeSize Professional sometimes followed the links in the
  414.   personal nethood folder and started scanning all available shares in the
  415.   network. This problem is now fixed.
  416. * Under Windows 2000 the previous versions scanned mounted volumes (new feature
  417.   of NTFS5) as normal folder, which produced wrong results.
  418. * The problem that TreeSize Pro tried to scan the FTP connections of WS FTP Pro
  419.   is now fixed too.
  420. * To fix the above problems, we have completely rewritten the scan routine.
  421.   As a result, scanning is now about 20% faster and needs about 70% less memory.
  422. * A problem with corrupt toolbar images under Windows 98 with certain video
  423.   drivers has been fixed.

  429. * It's now easier to check several files in the search window by selecting
  430.   mutliple files with the Shift or Ctrl key and then using the context menu.
  431. * You can now chose to move the checked files in the file search window to the
  432.   recycle bin, to delete them from harddisk or to move them to a given folder.
  433.   This allows you to easily archive or zip these files. The directory
  434.   structure is preserved when moving!
  435. * You can tell the Oldest file search to return only folders in which *all*
  436.   files have not been accessed/changed since a certain date. This allows you
  437.   to identify larger unused parts of a file system than only individual files.
